LOST LOOPS
LŪP is a handmade music machine that plays 10 second tape loops while generating shifting phase gate signals. The music on lost loops was recorded and compiled specifically for making tape loops to play on the LŪP machine. 45 minutes per side of an audio cassette makes about 270 tape loops to play on LŪP. Of those 270 loops maybe as few as 10 will end up being used for an album. When you are splicing tape together you have no real idea where the best sounds are hiding, so most of the music is sacrificed to the cutting room floor.
lost loops offers a chance to listen in to the making of a tape loop album and hear the process in its entirety.
